Ann Durben passed away August 17, 2026, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa. Ann was born on January 19, 1938, to Theodore and Pauline Runde in rural Riceville, Iowa.

Ann attended Bailey Country School through eighth grade and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1956. She worked a clerical job at Rochester Dairy until 1959 when she married Lester Durben. They farmed and raised four daughters near Meyer, Iowa. Ann was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer. Church activities drew her close to fellow parishioners and neighbors.

Ann enjoyed a variety of things – baking, sewing, gardening, bird watching, dancing and spending time with her five grandchildren. After her girls were grown, Ann worked at the Adams Healthcare Center where she enjoyed helping families and truly treasured the friendships of her coworkers.

Ann is survived by three daughters Sheila Durben of Stacyville, Brenda (Del) Jensen of Plymouth, MN and Marlene (Rob) Weis of Meyer. Five grandchildren Ami (Justin) Anderson, Alex Jensen, Brittany Weis, Willie (Nikki) Weis and Ben Weis. Four great grandchildren Ryder Anderson and Dallas, Rory & Kirbie Weis. Sisters-in-law Eileen Koenigs and Sharon Runde.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2019, daughter Therese Halbach in 2003, brother Leo Runde, sister Mary (Tom) Wilcox. In-laws Art and Louise Durben, brothers and sisters-in-law Stan (Caroline) Durben, Ambrose (Rosie) Durben, Anicita (Kenny) Overocker, Alverna (Elmer) Miller and Marvin Koenigs.

Ann’s family is thankful for the care she received at Apple Valley Place of Osage and Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider a memorial donation to the Meyer Sacred Heart Cemetery or the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Oratory in Meyer, Iowa. The family invites you to join them for a gathering of friends and family in the church hall following mass. A private family burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meyer, Iowa.
