Bonnie Linn Hirsch

Bonnie Linn Wilson-Hirsch, age 77, of Osage, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Bonnie was born on December 19, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Rose Arlene Reinken and Morris Lester Wilson. She grew up in and around the Waterloo area and attended East High School before continuing her education through community college coursework.

Bonnie was truly a jack of all trades throughout her life. She worked as a professional cosmetologist and cake decorator and held a variety of roles including accounting, human resources, emergency room admissions, and clerical work. Of all the roles she filled over the years, the one she valued most was being a mother. She was a devoted mom not only to her own children, but also to the many “adopted” family members her daughter brought into the family over the years. While the titles may not have been official, the love and support she offered were very real.

Bonnie loved reading, traveling, listening to music, and enjoying good food. She had a natural ability to listen and was known for offering thoughtful advice and hard-earned wisdom whenever someone needed it… or didn’t even ask for it. Those who knew her would likely describe her as fun-sized at 5 feet 1½ inches, feisty, sassy, loyal, stubborn, open-minded, and someone who could happily talk your ear off if you let her.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Vern Hirsch; her fiancé, Arnold “AJ” Clement; her son, Jeff Hirsch; her siblings Kenneth Wilson, Beverley Wilson, Edward Wilson, Joseph Wilson, and Roseann Wilson; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Clement-Scott (Brandon Scott) of Osage, Iowa.

Bonnie chose cremation and requested that no formal services be held. In keeping with her straightforward sense of humor, she once said, “If they didn’t come visit me while I was alive, why would they bother coming once I’m gone?”

A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Those wishing for details may contact her daughter.

Bonnie will be remembered for her quick smile, her love of laughter and joking with those around her, her sharp wit, fierce loyalty, and the wisdom she shared with anyone lucky enough to sit and talk with her.
