Brent Joseph Hodapp

Brent Joseph Hodapp, age 62, of Northwood, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Methodist Campus in Rochester, Minnesota. Brent was born on September 16, 1962, in Harlan, Iowa, to Robert and Arlene (Schmitz) Hodapp. In 1963, the family moved to Denver, Colorado. Brent graduated from George Washington High School in 1980. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Brent served two years in San Diego and two years on the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked various jobs for his father and Hugh M. Woods. In 1985, Brent met Joanne Eldrenkamp and they married on March 28, 1987. They had their first son, Brian Joseph Hodapp, on May 16, 1991, and their second son, Christopher Wesley Hodapp, on April 19, 1994. In 2008, while living in Denver, Brent began working for TruStile Doors. The family resided in Denver until 2014 when they moved to Northwood, Iowa, so Brent could help manage the transition of Woodharbor Doors to TruStile Doors. He had a special love for motorcycles, particularly his Indian Roadmaster, which made every ride an adventure. Brent also took great pride in his home, maintaining a beautifully manicured yard and a flagpole which he built. Together, with Joanne, he enjoyed Caribbean cruises. He also loved cooking, trying new foods, and flying radio-controlled airplanes. When you think of Brent, remember him for his great sense of humor, he had a joke ready for every occasion and was always ready to scare a friend. Brent was a great man who was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. We will love and miss him forever.

Brent is survived by his wife, Joanne; sons, Brian (Shaina) of High Rolls, New Mexico and Chris of Northwood; mother; Arlene Hodapp of Erie, Colorado; brother, Warren (Missy) Hodapp of Thornton, Colorado; mother-in-law, Anne Eldrenkamp of Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law, Nancy (Duane) Bonnema of Raymond, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, Dave (Jackie) Eldrenkamp of Lexington, North Carolina, and Mark (Andria) Eldrenkamp of Westminster, Colorado; many nieces and nephews; and beloved dogs, Penny, Nora, and Snickers. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hodapp; and brother-in-law, Neal Eldrenkamp.

A celebration of Brent’s life will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with a sharing of memories beginning at 6:30 p.m. all at Hoff Celebrations – Sites Memorial Chapel in Northwood. A private family interment will be in Kensett Cemetery, rural Kensett. Hoff Celebrations – Sites Memorial Chapel of Northwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
