Brian Dale Claussen

Brian Dale Claussen, age 65, passed away on June 18, 2025, at Mercy One North Iowa Medical Center. Brian was born on February 9, 1960, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Darwin Dewey Claussen and Betty Mae Flaskerud Claussen. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1978. Brian had previously been married twice to Tammy Earl and Gayle Larson, and he had been with his current wife, Shelly, for 17 years.

Throughout his career, Brian held various jobs, primarily in the automotive industry. His true passion lay in restoring cars, showcasing his exceptional attention to detail and immaculate painting and restoration abilities. Many of his restorations have been recognized and awarded at car shows, with his 1970 Camaro being the most prized possession. This car was also the same model as his high school vehicle.

In addition to his automotive interests, Brian had a passion for animals. He spent much of his time with his four dogs, Jack, Charlie Wes and his beloved Daisy, who was always on his lap. Brian also enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. He cherished the simple pleasures of life and looked forward to spending time with his family at birthday parties and holidays.

Brian was known for his infectious laughter and playful nature, which always brought a smile to people’s faces. He was an avid racer and embraced life with enthusiasm. His motto was, “You have to get older, but you don’t have to grow up.” His youthful spirit, quick wit, and unwavering determination made him truly one of a kind.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dar and Betty Claussen.

He is survived by his daughters, Brooke (Garrett) Ehlke, Nicole (Wyatt) Krager, and Christa (Colby) Trenhaile; wife, Shelly; and her children, Dustin, Jesse, Travis, Valerie, and Tori;

Grandchildren, Emerson, Everly, Eloise, Esme, Carter, Makalah, Camden, Tegan, Logan, Millie, Evelyn, Leilani; sister, Bonnie Bakken; and brother’s Dave and Don Claussen.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hoff Celebrations - Sites Memorial Chapel in Northwood, IA. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Round Prairie Cemetery in Glenville, MN.
