Dorothy "Ileen" Mostek, age 97 of Mitchell, IA passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at MCRHC in Osage IA surrounded by family. Ileen was born July 2nd,1928 in Fillmore Co MN. Ileen was the daughter of John and Edna Mae (Bonnette) Grimm. Ileen was 10 years old when her mother passed and her grandma raised her and the other 8 siblings. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1947. Ileen married Robert "Johnny" Mostek in 1949. She worked as a telephone operator for many years.
Her passion in life was music, singing, dancing, reading the Bible, praising and worshipping our Lord and Savior. Her faith carried her through this longevity of 97 years. She was a HUGE fan of the Minnesota Twins. She loved to bake and eat cookies, as her cookie jar was never empty. She loved to garden and go camping. Ileen was an avid Dog Lover!
Ileen is survived by her 4 children, Mark, Michael (Sue), Colleen (Dave), and Mary; her grandchildren, Chris (Lindy) Gerk, Chad (Josie) Mostek, Ryan (Jodie) Mostek, Destiny (Jared) Cronk, Matt Mostek, Jennifer (John) Klein, Nikki (Jeremy) Jirele, Ashley (Tommy) Martin, Maggie (Brandon) Olson, Heather (Nate) Owen and Hilary (Jordon) Mitchell; 25 great grandchildren; and her siblings, Dottie Counsell, Roger Grimm, Betty Ward, Marge Olson and Shirley (Dick) Frank; 2 sisters-in-law, Bonnie Grimm and Jackie Grimm.
Ileen was preceded in death by her husband John, her daughter Denise, her parents and eight siblings, Jake Grimm, Gladys Garrison, Sonny Grimm, Curley Grimm, Willard Grimm, Jiggs Grimm, Bobby Grimm, and Chuck Grimm.
A special Thank You to MCRHC and St Croix Hospice. We are eternally thankful for the loving care and compassion you shared with Ileen. A huge thank you to Home Health for their excellent care for her as well.
A Celebration of Life will be held a later date.
Hoff Celebrations - Champion Chapel of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
