Gary Gene Mork, age 91, passed away peacefully, February 14, 2026, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, surrounded by his family.
Gary was born April 29, 1934, in New Haven, Iowa to Robert & Vivian Mork. He graduated from St Mary’s High in New Haven in 1952 and went on to serve 21 years in the United States Air Force as a Communication Electronic Technician. While stationed in London England he was united in marriage to Violet Pettle in May of 1957. To this union six children were born and over the years they traveled to various Air Force bases throughout the US and abroad. He also served one tour in Vietnam in 1969-1970. After Violet’s passing Gary was united in marriage to Marilyn Lange.
Gary and Marilyn enjoyed camping at the Deer Creek Speedway in the summer months, hunting, fishing and his all-time favorite was NASCAR. He was an avid Jeff Gordon fan.
Gary was one of the original members of the Mitchell County Sheriff Reserves, on which he served for several years. He was employed by the Mitchell County Conservation until his retirement. He and Marilyn continued to work for Theobald’s of Stacyville for several more years traveling coast to coast picking up tractor clutch cores.
Gary is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sister, Nadine and children Gary (Terry) Mork, Harrisonburg, VA; Larry (Marcia) Mork, Osage, IA; Terry (Betsy) Mork, Ft Worth, TX; Colleen (Craig) Schulz, St Ansgar, IA; Brian (Shari) Mork, Osage, IA; Wendy (Landry) Dale, Ventura, IA; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Violet, brother Robert, sister-in-law Carolyn, and sister Susan.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, February 19th, 2026, at 11:00. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will take place in New Haven Cemetery.
