Gary L. Pollard, age 83, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on May 20, 2026.
Gary was born on October 11, 1942, to James and Bessie Pollard. He graduated from Osage High School in 1961 and from University of Northern Iowa in 1966. During both high school and college, he enjoyed participating in wrestling.
Gary taught history and physical education for several years before helping his uncle with farming. He later returned to Osage, Iowa, where he worked at Winnebago Industries and eventually retired from Wallace.
Gary enjoyed following sports and rarely missed the opportunity to support his many nieces and nephews in their athletic activities and school events. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and helping family and friends with projects whenever needed. He was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church.
Gary will be remembered for his caring nature, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bessie Pollard; his sister, Nancy Pollard; and his great-niece, April Pollard.
Gary is survived by his brother, Ned (Carol) Pollard of Osage, IA; sisters Elaine (Craig) Rose of Smithville, MO, Kay (Larry) Combs of Clinton, MO, and Janet (Claude) Kirchgatter of Riceville, IA; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Osage from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Martha Chancellor presiding. The burial will be at the Osage Cemetery.
Hoff Celebrations - Champion Chapel of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
