Jay Dean Schaub

Jay Dean Schaub, age 66 of Grafton, Iowa died on Friday July 10, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Jay was born on October 2, 1959 to Ellis and Edna (Walk) Schaub in Mason City. He grew up the youngest of three, on a farm near Grafton and graduated from St. Ansgar High School. Following graduation he attended NIACC where he received his associates degree. After his mother passed away he helped care for his dad while working nights. He worked various jobs through his career, including farming, Conagra and Ventura Foods. Jay was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, Iowa. In his free time he enjoyed riding motorcycle, spending time with friends and family and liked to live life wild and free. 

Jay is survived by his brother Lynn (Sharon) Schaub of Northwood, Curt (Julie) Schaub of Northwood; nephews, Eric (Angie) Schaub, Brent (Nina) Schaub and Michael (Elizabeth) Schaub; great nieces and nephews, Alex, Zac, Oliver, Gus, Gemma, Willa, Riley, Emersyn, Kamdyn. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Edna.

A short memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Hoff Celebrations - Sites Memorial Chapel in Northwood, Iowa. A visitation will immediately follow from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will be held in the Grafton Cemetery in Grafton, Iowa.
