Jean Marie Taets

Jean Marie Taets, age 96, died at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa, on December 13, 2025.

Jean was born on February 8, 1929, to Joseph Sr. and Mabelle (Tucker} Kleespies. She graduated from Orchard High School in 1947. Jean worked in the office at Oliver in Charles City, nurse’s aide at the old Nissen Hospital in Osage, and a dental assistant for Dr. Mooney until she got married. She married Russell Taets on November 14, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. They farmed on the Taets family farm in rural Osage. They retired in 1989 and moved to Osage. Jean was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of Sacred Heart Guild. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, holiday get togethers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her children, Mark (Janet) Taets, Ann (Gary) Phelps and Loren (Tammy) Taets; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell; her parents; siblings, twin sister Joan Wetherall, Frances Larson, Ruth Shelledy and Joe Kleespies Jr., and great-granddaughter, Kenady Bartz.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, IA.

The funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Osage, Iowa at 11:00 a.m. December 22, 2025. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage, Iowa. There will be lunch following the service.
