Jerald Paul "Jerry" Kruse

Jerald Paul “Jerry” Kruse, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. Jerry was born on February 19,1944, in Osage, Iowa, to Paul and LaVerna (Rawson) Kruse. He spent his entire life rooted on the family home place, where his love for the land and farming shaped who he was. Jerry was a hardworking farmer who took great pride in his work and his way of life.

Jerry graduated from Riceville High School and dedicated his life to farming. Jerry especially loved his tractors, working the land, and being outdoors. He enjoyed tractor pulling, swap meets, and auctions. He could often be found talking farming with anyone who would listen.

Jerry was a lifelong Catholic and a faithful member of Sacred Heart Oratory in Meyer, Iowa. His faith was an important part of his life and guided him throughout the years. Above all else, Jerry loved his family. He treasured time spent with them and especially enjoyed visits that included watching young ones run, play, and laugh. He also deeply loved his dogs and the simple joys of daily life on the farm, which included gardening.

Jerry is survived by his siblings, Mary Kruse-Olson, Jim Kruse, Robert (Sherry) Kruse; sister-in-law, Connie Kruse; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew; and a lifelong friend, Chuck Koenings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and LaVerna Kruse; brothers, Tom Kruse, Richard Kruse; brother-in-law, Mike Olson; nephew, Matthew; and a niece, Alyssa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Oratory in Meyer, Iowa, with Father Peter Dery officiating. A visitation will take place at the church two hours prior to the service. Jerry will be laid to rest at Meyer Cemetery following the service.
