Joseph E Beyer, age 78 of Osage, Iowa passed away on October 24, 2025 at Mercy One North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.
Joseph “Joe” Ernest Beyer was born on September 25, 1947 in Osage, Iowa to Joseph and Mary (Crooks) Beyer. He was raised on their farm near St. Ansgar, Iowa along with 13 siblings. Following his 4 Older Brothers, he enlisted in the Military in 1966. He served in the United States Army where he was deployed to Vietnam for 18 months. He returned and married Lynne Muller in 1971, where he was stationed in Alaska and Colorado until his Honorable Discharge in 1973. They moved back to Iowa and had two children together, Tonya and Travis Joe. The marriage later ended.
Joe met the love of his life, Pamela Bellinger-Bridges and on May 25, 1984 married her in Casa Grande, Arizona. Together they raised her son, Trevor, in and around Waverly, Iowa until they moved back to Mitchell County in 1994.
Joe spent his career as an auto technician and as long as it wasn’t a FORD, he was content to fix anything and everything else that was in need of repair. He Spent time in the local Reserve units in Waterloo, the Army National Guard in Waterloo and the Transportation Unit with the Army Reserves in Garner and has remained part of the inactive Reserves. Joe was a volunteer Fireman and a City Councilman in St. Ansgar. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 0358 and became a member of Masonic Lodge #102 when his good friend and mentor Jack Demuth requested he join.
Pam and Joe spent a lot of time traveling the States on their Harleys. They enjoyed spending time with friends camping, and seeing the sites together. Joe could never sit still for long and was a "Jack of all Trades". He could build, wire, plumb and fix all things broken. He was a jokester and a tease. He may have grumbled about it, but he loved helping out friends and family with anything. Joe will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Joe is survived by his wife, Pam Beyer of Osage; children, Tonya (Jason) Sparrow of Ridgeway, Iowa, Travis Joe Beyer of Osage, and Trevor Bridges of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Madison (Kat) Sparrow, Maxwell (Nashia) Sparrow, Benton Sparrow, and Honore Sparrow, Isis Beyer, Brighton Beyer, Avett Beyer, Aiden Bridges, Colin Bridges and Logan Bridges; siblings, Mary Bell, Charles (Esther) Beyer, Verona Spooner, Jorene (James Iverson) Gunderson, Leone (Don) Kofoot, Myrna (Greg) Klemesrud and Sharon (Tony) Brown, Mother-in-law, LaVera Jensen, Father-in-law, Jerry Jensen, Sisters-in-law, Lori Litterer (Scott Fell) and Melanie Fox (Dustin) also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Beyer; siblings Richard Beyer, Esther Kanzenbach, Frederick Beyer, Edward Beyer, Paul Beyer and Ruth Evans; and his beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
A memorial service for Joe will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the St. Ansgar City Cemetery. Hoff Celebrations - Champion is assisting the family with arrangements.
