Kole William Broderick, age 30, born July 21, 1995, in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 7:19 p.m. in the Critical Care Unit at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, surrounded by family who loved him deeply.
Kole was known for his sharp wit, infectious humor, and the kind of compassion that made people feel seen, heard, and valued. He loved football and anime, and he could make anyone laugh with his quick, clever remarks. Beneath his humor, Kole carried a heart that cared fiercely for his family and friends. Even through adversity, personal struggles, and the profound losses that shaped his life, he did everything he could to stay strong for others. If someone needed support, he was there—without hesitation, without judgment, and always with love.
Kole was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He is survived by his parents, Terry and Pam Broderick; his siblings, Dakota (Arianna) Broderick, Kallie Broderick and Kyle Gonnerman; His nieces Charlie and Cammie Broderick; his grandmothers Cyndy Groff and Judy Busta; and many aunts and uncles who loved him dearly: Dave and Tam Jahnke, Sue Broderick, Dan and Whitney Pfadenhauer, Joe and Kelly Deutz, Randy and Beth Groff, Tracy Groff, Jeff and Sue Busta, and Jayme and Kandi Busta.
Kole is preceded in death by his brother, Cameron Broderick, whom he loved deeply and missed profoundly, as well as his mother Jodene Broderick, grandfather Bill Broderick, grandmother Alice Broderick, grandfather Dick Groff and his uncle Tim Broderick. We take comfort knowing that Kole is now reunited with them—safe, at peace, and surrounded by the loved ones who went before him.
Kole will be forever remembered for his intelligence, humor, unwavering love, and the strength he carried even in the hardest of moments. While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for every moment we shared with him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
