Laurie Lynne Erdahl

Laurie Lynne Erdahl, age 59, passed away on August 12, 2026, after a long and courageous journey. Born on July 20, 1967, to Linda and LeMar Erdahl, she was deeply loved throughout her life and leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and unwavering connection to family and friends.

Laurie's life was marked early by loss, yet her story is also one of extraordinary love. The love that carried Laurie through her childhood shaped the person she became. She was embraced by a village of family and friends who helped raise her, encouraged her, and reminded her that she belonged. Among them was her aunt, Chris, whose love, guidance, and unwavering support remained constant throughout Laurie's life. Their care helped shape the strong, thoughtful, and loving woman so many knew and cherished.

She had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a deep appreciation for the people who showed up for one another. Over the years, she returned that love many times over, creating lasting friendships and meaningful connections wherever life took her. Her love for cats was well known, and she treasured the companionship of her feline friends over the years, especially her beloved Farley. In return, she filled the lives of those around her with humor, compassion, and countless unforgettable memories.

To know her was to know kindness. She had a generous heart, an easy smile, and a way of making people feel welcome and valued. Her quick wit was legendary. She always had the perfect comeback, the perfect punchline, or just the right observation to lighten the moment. Laughter seemed to follow wherever she went.

A true child of the 1980s, Laurie embraced life with confidence, humor, and a little bit of mischief. Whether it was her ever-changing hairstyles, her fearless sense of style, or the adventures that became family legend, she had a way of standing out. She seemed effortlessly cool, and her younger cousins watched in awe as she pushed boundaries and collected stories along the way.

One time, she even "ran away" to First Avenue to see Prince, knowing full well Grandma would never have approved. It was a classic Laurie move, determined, fearless, and convinced that some experiences were simply too important to miss.

In recent years, as classmates shared memories of their school days, family and friends found themselves captivated by the stories of Laurie's rule-bending adventures and unforgettable personality. Time had not diminished her cool factor. If anything, it had only added to the legend.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Linda and LeMar Erdahl; her grandparents; and many beloved aunts, uncles, family members, dear friends, and her beloved cat Tommy Boy. Having spent much of her life missing those she loved, there is comfort in imagining her reunited with them once again. Though their absence left a space in her heart, their memories remained with her always.

Laurie is survived by the village that helped raise her, loved her, and stood by her throughout her life, including her beloved aunts and uncles: Chris Carrison; Merlin and Jeanne Casterton; Curt and Martha Erdahl; John (Eric) Bower. She is also survived by her cousins, extended family, and countless friends who became family along the way.

Laurie leaves behind countless memories, stories, and inside jokes that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit, humor, and the stories she gave us will remain woven into the lives of all who loved her.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery to follow.
