David Herbert Lenz

David H. Lenz, 86, of St. Ansgar, IA, passed away on August 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. David was born November 2, 1936 in Beaver Dam, WI to Leon and Hartie Lenz where he was raised on the farm and graduated from Beaver Dam High School. On November 22, 1975 he married Ethel Buchda (Schultz) and they made their home on a farm in rural St. Ansgar, IA. David farmed for many years with his son, Dave, and loved running the combine for as long as he was able. He also enjoyed wood working, fishing, traveling south in the winter, and playing darts, pool, cards and cribbage. He trusted in the Lord and his relationship with God gave him peace and comfort and even a few smiles in his last days. We are comforted to know that we will see him again in Heaven one day. He is survived by his: wife, Ethel Lenz; two daughters, Lisa (Lance) Novak of Plymouth, MN, Rhonda (Tom) Walters of El Granada, CA; one son, Dave (LeAnne) Lenz of St. Ansgar, IA; two step-daughters, Sue (Scott) Jordahl of Placerville, CA, Lisa (Mike) Patterson of St. Ansgar, IA; step-son, Chuck (Kathy) Buchda of Thompson, IA; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his: parents; brother, Leonard; sister, Sheila; granddaughter, Kelsi. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 20023 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Austin, MN with Pastor Welke officiating. A visitation will take place at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar, IA.
