Laird Royal Ones

Laird passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. He was surrounded by family and friends as he peacefully passed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor Joel Nye officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. September 10, 2023 at the Church. Laird was born on December 22, 1952 to Justin and Clara Ones. He attended Osage Community Schools until graduation in 1971. He then attended North Iowa Community College where he graduated in 1973. He began his work career at FMC in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 1973-1974 when he moved back to Osage and began to work at White Farm in Charles City. He worked there until 1983. He worked for 2 years at Bob’s East End in Osage before going for 2 years at Evenson’s Market in Riceville. From 1985-2002 he worked at Fox River Mills as a Customer Service Representative. In 2002 he moved into his final position as a Teller at Home Trust & Savings Bank until he retired January 1, 2015. Laird was a lifelong member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church where he loved singing in the choir and participated in various church boards throughout his life. He always loved living on the golf course. He enjoyed a round of golf and Sunny Brae Country Club where he was known to enjoy a cocktail or two after a round or at one of the many parties that were at the club. After he retired, he did not remain idle because he also did volunteer work at the Cedar River Complex and Mitchell County Hospital. Family and Friends were always important to him. He loved telling friends about his family as well as telling his family about his friends. He enjoyed planning and traveling the country from sea to shining sea with friends. He also was excited when he traveled back to Norway with family. Laird is survived by 2 nieces and a nephew from Wisconsin. Angie Ones and her children: Jaryd and his fiancé Alyvia Dobs; Jori and Will Johnson and their son, Brantley. Jessica and Ryan Tollander and children: Macy, Morgan and Kylie. Jeremy and Renee Ones and children: Ben and Lydia. Close friends: Steve and Carrie Bremer and their 3 boys and children: Brad and Katrina Bremer, Emma and Ava; Chris and Erin Bremer, Evan, Graham and Harper; Jordan and Talia Bremer, Rowan and Sawyer. As well as many cousins on the Ones and Kroneman sides. Laird was preceded in death by his parents: Justin and Clara Ones, and his brother Jerry Ones.
